Carson turns 2!!

I'm a little late on this post, but my sweet boy, you are TWO! I say this with every milestone and birthday, but wow does time go way to fast. Every time I rock you to bed at night, I look down at you and it feels like it was just yesterday that I was rocking you swaddled in my arms. Now I'm crying as I write this - ha!

You have quite the personality my little love. You have a "TUDE!" and we love it (not all the time), but most times :). Although you test our patience every day, you make us laugh and laugh a lot. When you are ornery, we have a very hard time not laughing. You also have the most loveable side to you - you are a snuggler. No complaints here! You are a momma's boy - its all things momma right now. I love it. You are ridiculously squeezable...everyone wants to squeeze you. Maybe its your almost white hair and unbelievably sweet smile.

You are a big boy! 95th% in height and weight! Wowza. You always want me to hold you - I consider it an arm workout.

You have a few favorite things right now. You love Minions from Despicable Me (this was your bday theme!) You love watching movies with your big brother, especially Nemo - you call it "Memo." You love to dance and they are the coolest moves - you kind of bob up and down and walk at the same time. You love sweets - you get that from Daddy and Grandma Debbie. You love shoes! Every time I come home with new shoes for you, you have to put them on that very minute. You LOVE and I mean love being outside. Even if its blazing hot or freezing cold, you want out there!

Here are some moments captured on your birthday. We love you so much, Carson Scott.

Lake of the Ozarks! - 2014

Oh my, what a fun trip to the Ozarks!

It was the first lake trip for the boys and it definitely will not be the last. We all had the best time. All in thanks to my very dear in-laws...Bryan's parents are amazing. They planned, booked and vacayed with us for 7 days!

Our days consisted of waking up (very early for me and the boys), drinking our coffee on the balcony, while watching the boats go by, boating all day long, with stops along the way and drinking lots of beer and lemonade! Does it get much better than that?

The boys loved swimming in the lake and we loved watching them...my little fish! Carson loved sleeping on the boat, no matter how fast or how long we were driving, he slept. It was pretty cute. What wasn't cute, was how ornery he was on the trip, ha! I don't know if it was the fresh air or just his vacation mode, but he was naughty! His word of the week was "no," and he picked on his big bro all week, including whacking him with his toy golf club about 25 times! It's a darn good thing he's cute.

As for Hudson, he was a doll. Loved every minute of the water and boating. At one point when he was in the lake, he looked at us and said "I don't ever want to go home!" We all agreed.

The photos below show it all! A big thanks to John and Suzanne (AKA Grandma and Grandpa), for the awesome week and putting up with us...we are a handful!

Stitches

This weekend was one for the books - thought I better write about it, so Hudson knows the details of his first ER trip.

My heart is just now slowing down and its been 3 days - ha! On Saturday morning, I loaded the boys up in the double stroller and headed to the park, Bryan was golfing so it was some nice Mom/Hudson/Carson time! I thought, what better than the park! We had been there about an hour and the three of us were making sand castles. Curious Carson got his typical naughty grin on his face and started to stomp on Hudson's castle - you can imagine that didn't end well. I told Carson I would take him to play on the frog. Welllllll, Hudson decided he wanted to play on the frog (go figure!), so he started to race over to it before Carson could get there. As he was running, I told him to slow down and let his brother play on it first. Guess what!? He didn't listen...he's a boy...at a park, there was no stopping him. That is until he tripped! Tripped, flew forward, hit his forehead on the frog, screamed a scream I had never heard before and then the blood...ughhh the blood! So awful. When he turned around, his face was covered - I took his shirt off and tied it around his head to help with the bleeding - the gash in his forehead was, well, unpleasant. I called my own momma, because I knew Bryan probably had his phone on silent golfing. She came straight there - we loaded up in the car and off we went to the ER.

The craziest part of all this, is after his initial scream, Hudson didn't shed one tear. From the moment we went to the hospital, to the moment he got his 5 stitches put in, he just chatted with us. We sang a few songs as she was stitching him up and and that was it. Carson all the while, still in shock - not making a peep either. Hudson's only request was to see his stitches after they were in and he did. He thought they were pretty cool, because there were blue. He even got a bear from the hospital and named him "Stitches." How perfect, huh!? To be honest, I think Hudson took all of this better than I did. He amazed me and still has over the past three days. Every time I change is bandages, he sits there patiently and we sing songs.

I hope this is our only trip to the ER, but as a mom of boys, I can't predict that!

I have to give a shout out to two people...1. a very kind man, who lived by the park. He had heard Hudson scream and when he saw what was going on, he came right out with gauze, asking us what he could do to help. That in itself, kind sir, was amazing. God bless good people in this world. He kept the stroller in his garage until all of this craziness was over.  2. my mom - who saved the day. This is why I love living close to them. She was there to get us within a matter of 3 minutes and stayed with us until we got home and settled in. Thank you, momma.

Hudson Thomas, here is your first major wound, buddy!...
There are those 5 blue stitches!
So brave, so brave.

Sweet Summer time

We LOVE Summer! Olaf's Summer song is our jam right now..."Bees-a-buzz, kids'll blow dandelion fuzz"..."Rrr Rat da dat dah dah dah dah dah dah dah dah doo"

We are living outside! The boys never want to go in. We actually try to avoid the indoors...loud meltdowns! So, we eat outside, play outside, relax outside, shop outside and search for bugs outside. We even got a bug catcher...I'm learning to be okay with bugs, worms, things that crawl. If I act scared, they throw them on me, so I try to avoid that. Fun fun!

Looking for those rollie pollies and worms!

its always a race to the top - gives me a heart attack

At big bro's t-ball game

Carson and Gramps

I get the feeling he knows he's cute

Chillin' out, maxin', relaxin' all cool
We go out to Bryan's shop a lot to check out the plants and of course play in the mud! They always come home covered in mud, head to toe.

Checking out his rollie pollie
Throwing rocks in the lake is the most fun!
