ONE!

Carson Scott, you are ONE year old! Wowza time flew!

I have to be honest, as excited as I am about this birthday, I have bits of sadness as well...a little bitter sweet I guess. I've been smiling and crying the last couple of days, thinking about you being 12 months. I did the same thing with your brother. Its the most amazing thing to watch you grow and hit all your milestones...I look back at the past year and truly cannot grasp how fast this year went. It feels like yesterday you were being handed to me from the nurse at the hospital..."Here's your beautiful, healthy baby boy." Our hearts filled with so much joy and love, its unbelievable. You were a whopping 8 lbs! That was a lot to me! You were the most beautiful 8 lb babe I have ever seen. Dark blonde hair, light skin (like your momma) and long fingers. Grandma Suz couldn't get over those long fingers!

You are quite different than your big bro! You are still our shy one...you bury your head in my shoulder whenever someone you don't know comes to say hi to you or tell you how cute you are. You are terrified of strangers, especially when other parents pick up their kids at daycare - you are not happy! Its ok, stranger danger is a good thing. You are awnry and when I say that, I say it with a smile on my face...you climb everything and you do it smiling, because you know you shouldn't be. You get very angry when we take something from you...screams! You try to wrestle with Hudson...well you actually just rip out his hair and make him scream. You are awnry and we love it. We love it, because you are you and there is nothing cooler than watching your personality grow.

You make us laugh...a lot! You are a baby comedian, I tell ya! You do these funny dance moves (especially with your head), when music comes on and your big bro thinks its hysterical...so do we. When you eat at the dinner table in your highchair, you make this huge gummy grin after every bite, we laugh at every one! Anything you see laying on the floor that is soft, you put your head on it and pretend like you are going "night night." You bang your toys on everything..I have 500 dents in my new coffee table, but its okay, because you are a baby and you don't know any better. You bang on the doors, windows, floors...its SO fun to you! You drop food on the floor, because you think its funny when Ace picks it up and eats it...we say "no no" and you smile and grab more food and drop it on the floor. We have to laugh (with our heads turned of course), we can't help it.

You and your big brother are the best-est of friends, especially the past month. Every morning, when Hudson hears you wake up, he beats me in there, climbs up on the crib and hugs you. Then you two hug about 20 times after I get you out of the crib. You love him so much and he loves you so much. He invites you to play with him now...you destroy everything he builds and he usually laughs it off and rebuilds. Sometimes he does get really mad though, and what do you do? You give him your gummy grin and laugh. That is you. You are funny.

You are a momma's boy. If you even see me start to stand up and walk away, you cry. So, I take you with me everywhere! One of my favorite times of everyday, is when I give you your bedtime bottle and you fall asleep in my arms and I rock you forever. I never want to put you down.

Nobody can make you smile as much as your daddy! He can barely glance at you and you have an ear to ear grin. When you hear the door open at night, you know its daddy walking in from work...you turbo crawl to the door to greet him. I think I say "awwwwe" every day about the same time.

You sleep like a rockstar! 12-13 hours every night...no complaints there! We don't even hear a peep out of you, so I still go in there to check on you every night. You are always cuddled up with your blankie, looking angelic as ever.

You are walking now! Daddy calls it the "drunken sailor" walk, because that's what you look like! I think it looks more like Frankenstein, either way, its the cutest thing in the world.

You had your first haircut already! Your hair is kinda wild, so we thought a little trim may be just the trick. Its growing back and its just as wild, we love it. Blondie boy!

You are doing great in daycare...your teachers adore you and you adore them. You have friends too, sweet little baby friends! You still have a hard time once in a while when I drop you off, as do I, but the second you get on the floor with your friends, you do great.

You are waving...its a backwards wave, but its a wave! Its precious. You also recently started "whistling"...yes, whistling! It was by accident one day when you were in deep thought trying to figure out a new toy. You puckered your lips and started breathing in and out and there it was! A whistle! You looked confused. Now you do it all the time! I have to say, I've never heard a baby whistle, so I find it quite fascinating. Its great.

Carson, you have taught us so much. You fill our hearts with so much love and happiness. We are thankful everyday for your health, heart and smile. We love you, baby boy!

This was right after your newborn photo shoot...its exhausting being cute!
It's like looking in a mirror!

3 Months!

9 Months! Crawling like a champ

Before the haircut. See...I told you it was a bit wild!

Arizona 2013

Can we go back?...

My mom and dad (AKA Grandma Debbie and Grandpa Scott), had us down to their home in Arizona...we had the most relaxing, fun, crazy, lazy time (don't get me wrong though, we also had our fair share of meltdowns). It was our first vacation as a family of 4. Go us! We did it...we survived the plane rides too with both kids...eek that was an experience in itself! But it made for some really great memories. Some of my favorite, in fact! Instead of "writing" about this lovely time in AZ, I thought I would just list out some of the moments we will forever remember...

-Flight delay from Omaha to Arizona (great start, huh)
-Fussy, overtired baby on the plane (took me and hour to get him to sleep)
-All the while, Hudson played his Leapster and watched out his window in amazement of the clouds below us
-Landing in AZ and watching Hudson run as fast as he could to Grandpa Scott and seeing Carson's face light up when he saw Grandma and Grandpa (they were already down there waiting for us to arrive)
-Watching Hudson do what he likes to call "cannon balls" into the pool, and just watching him become this little fish!
-Watching Carson sit in his swimmer diaper in the pool and splash until he didn't have the strength to splash anymore
-Going out to dinner and Hudson saying out loud to a very large man with HUGE muscles..."Hey mom, look at that BIG man!...how do I get muscles like that?" The man turned around and said "Spinach."
-Taking the boys to Rainforest Cafe...jaws dropped, eyes lit up...very exciting!
-Hearing Hudson say the phrase "Where's Grandpa" every 10 minutes...best friends in the world. Melts my heart
-Carson giving out hugs like its his job...we have a little lover on our hands.
-Coming to the realization that, although Carson is quite lovey, we have our hands full with him...he's an awnry one, that baby! Good thing he's so darn cute ;-)
-Date night with the hubs...ahhh it was wonderful. Steak house and drinks, we reminisced for hours. Amazing.
-Waking up to two smiling boys every single morning (at 5am - they couldn't get used to the time change)...they knew every time they woke up, it was pool fun with Grandpa and Grandma!
-Watching Carson take his first step...he hasn't done it since!
-Me getting to lay out in the pool, in the sun, by myself...that NEVER happens!
-Waking up to the coffee already brewing (thanks mom)
-Drinking margs with my momma
-The 11pm flight home...which I prefer not to speak of ;-)
-Lastly...Spending time with this awesome group of people, I get to call my family. I am truly blessed and I need to thank the Good Lord more often, because I sure do have a lot to be thankful for. So, thank you, Lord, for these very special people I have in my life.

Thank you to my parents, for the best time ever. Our boys are so lucky to have you as their grandparents. We all had the time of our lives. As a matter of fact, Hudson told me last night, while laying in bed, that he is going back next week :).

Some fun pics below! (I had to add in a similar picture of Hudson when he went down there for the first time, around the same age Carson is...Carson on left, Hudson on right)...
